Hi, I'm Ashley
Pronouns she/her
I take a no-nonsense approach to therapy that blends traditional theories with contemporary ideas, like a vintage flip. My perspective is that each part of life contributes to well-being, and some patterns that we have to undo come from intergenerational experiences. Our earliest childhood experiences shape individuality, and our ideas about the world are shaped by what else happens in life. Just like how gritty sand makes a stone shiny and smooth in a rock tumbler, my therapy practice is a space to enhance your self-image, improve your mental health, and enrich your relationships.
My specialization is in seamlessly integrating several key therapeutic areas, which, like the delicious combo of bacon and jam (don't knock it 'til you try it!), may not seem obvious at first but are an undeniably great pairing. Rest assured, your treatment plan will be tailored specifically to your unique taste. We will collaborate to find a blend that meets your individual needs.
People come to me to talk about:
- anxiety & mood
- perfectionism
- people-pleasing and boundaries
- relationships (family, partner(s), work, heck even pets)
- couples therapy (where 3 is not a crowd)
- stress management
- self-esteem & self-compassion
I reside on the unceded ancestral territories of the hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓ speaking people & Sḵwx̱wú7mesh first nations that was not surrendered. Land acknowledgement is not enough, we must raise others up and provide accessible services with cultural humility.
In the realm of therapy, I'm book smart and street smart. Working with me means that I can relate on the level of my continued training and lived experiences.
Here are some ways that I stay sharp as a therapist:
- continued education to increase cultural safety when working with Indigenous Peoples
- learning ways to queer my practice to improve LGBTQ2S+ friendliness
- participating in annual conferences (way more fun than it sounds!)
- training in specialized therapy techniques
The fine print:
I hold a professional license as a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) so you can rest assured that I have been professionally trained and examined. I am a trained EMDR Therapist. I have completed level 1 of the Gottman Method for Couples Therapy and I am a certified Gottman Leader for The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work Couples Workshop (it’s a mouthful, I know). I am a registered provider for ICBC, FNHA and CVAP. I might also be registered with your insurance provider if that’s required, just ask!
Let's get started.
I'm passionate about helping people feel more connected to themselves, others and the world around them.
