Ashley Greensmyth Counselling provides mental health services through online individual counselling and online couples therapy. I specialize in untangling the connections between anxiety, self-worth & attachment and creating satisfying relationships.

Ever wonder why your anxiety can feel so intense, Ever wonder why your anxiety can feel so intense, even when part of you knows you’re probably safe?Sometimes anxiety isn’t just about what’s happening right now. It can be influenced by experiences your nervous system learned from long ago. When the brain perceives similarities between a current situation and a past distressing experience, it may respond as though protection is needed, even if the threat isn’t actually present. This is one reason insight alone doesn’t always make anxiety go away. You may logically understand that you’re safe while your nervous system is sending a very different message.EMDR helps people process experiences that may still be contributing to present-day anxiety, allowing the brain and body to update old information and respond more flexibly in the present.🌿#EMDRTherapy #VancouverCounsellor #AnxietyTherapy #MentalHealth
People pay me to listen to their secrets and witne People pay me to listen to their secrets and witness their tears… And it’s one of the coolest jobs in the world. 😎Therapy isn’t about having someone tell you what to do. It’s about having a space where you can be honest, explore patterns, process difficult experiences, and better understand yourself without judgment. My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and practical. I want clients to leave session sessions with greater self-awareness, a deeper understanding of why they do what they do, and tools that help them create meaningful change in their lives. And honestly, there is something pretty bad ass about deciding you’re no longer willing to stay stuck in patterns that aren’t serving you. Looking inward takes courage. Healing takes work. Choosing growth when avoidance would be easier is a power move. You deserve a life that feels good to live, not just one that looks OK from the outside.🌿#VancouverCounsellor #MillennialTherapist #MentalHealthMatters #EMDRTherapy
Come on, badass! If you’ve ever found yourself sa Come on, badass! If you’ve ever found yourself saying “yes” when you wanted to say “no,” avoiding difficult conversations, or replaying things you wish you’d said, this post is for you. Many people think boundaries are about keeping others out. In reality, healthy boundaries help create relationships that feel more authentic, balanced, and sustainable. When we prioritize people-pleasing, we often end up disconnected from our own needs. The result can be resentment, frustration, emotional exhaustion, or feeling unseen by the people around us.Learning to speak up, express preferences, and communicate limits doesn’t guarantee everyone will like it. What it does do is give others the opportunity to know the real you.The irony is the boundaries aren’t JUST good for you. They’re often good for your relationships, too. When expectations are clearer and needs are communicated, there’s less guesswork, less resentment, and more room for genuine connection.Which boundary affirmation do you think people struggle with most?🌿#Boundaries #PeoplePleasing #MentalHealth
I’ve been coy about a big part of my life, and tha I’ve been coy about a big part of my life, and that’s fandom. Since as long as I can remember, music fandom has been a big part of my identity, community, and even coping.Whether it’s going to a festival or even a concert, fandom can provide a sense of belonging and togetherness that isn’t always easy to find.Think about it. Meeting new people and chatting with fans has become a big part of the concert experience. Giving out freebies is a new way to meet people and feel the positive vibes. Because we’re all there to dance, sing, and have the time of our lives together.(And we do!)What are YOU interested in? Have you found your community? Do you participate in fandom?🌿#Belonging #CommunityVibes #VancouverCounsellor
Many people start counselling believing that somet Many people start counselling believing that something is fundamentally wrong with them. One of my first goals is helping them see that isn’t true.Anxiety isn’t random. It’s your nervous system communicating with something needs attention, support, or healing.I work with people who look calm on the outside, but carry constant tension, worry, and exhaustion beneath the surface. Using approaches like EMDR, Lifespan Integration, and Adlerian therapy, I help clients move beyond symptom management and address the deeper roots of anxiety. If you’re ready to understand what your mind is trying to tell you, you don’t have to figure it out alone.🌿#AnxietyTips #VancouverCounsellor MillennialTherapist
