Ashley Greensmyth Counselling provides mental health services through online individual counselling and online couples therapy. I specialize in untangling the connections between anxiety, self-worth & attachment and creating satisfying relationships.

Let’s all be gentle with ourselves because this is Let’s all be gentle with ourselves because this is our first time around. 🫶

I sometimes use this phrase “everybody ages, but not everyone grows up.” Learning to mature, self-reflect, forgive oneself and be self-compassionate can be tough when we aren’t on our own sides, and when we have to reckon with our past mistakes and decisions.

The clients who I work with consistently give me hope and inspire me with their wisdom, earnestness, resilience, and growth.

If you’re self-reflecting, you can grow. Remember that you are worthy of your own love and respect. 🩷

So, millennials, zillennials, Gen X, Gen Z, and Gen Alpha: what lessons would you add?

I don’t know about you, but old school wins over n I don’t know about you, but old school wins over new school to me on this one.

I firmly believe that having elements from childhood in your adult life is vital to your mental health. It’s also a way to stay connected to your true essence, your spirit.

In general, people feel better after spending time in nature and I think it’s not just because of the benefits of being outdoors. We tend to have a positive association with unstructured free time and adventure because the world was once a completely new experience to us. Boredom was a chance to notice things and become creative.

So maybe you don’t need to “raw dog boredom“ and stare off for an hour without dissociating to prove to yourself that your algorithm hasn’t rotted your brain. Maybe you just need to do some of the things you used to do.
