Sometimes all you need is a pleasant distraction. Sometimes all you need is a pleasant distraction. Not a break to scroll until your body forgets what has upset it. I’m talking about an actual therapeutic distraction that occupies your mind and moves your attention from stress to sensation. ✨Use this the next time you’re feeling wound up, nervous, or stressed.#Mindfulness #TherapyTools #GroundingTechniques
It’s ok to feel the nerves, but it’s not necessary It’s ok to feel the nerves, but it’s not necessary! I’ll be your down-to-earth, silly but real, metaphor making millennial therapist who just *gets* it.🌿#VancouverCounsellor #AnxietyTherapist
What do you think is one of the biggest misconcept What do you think is one of the biggest misconceptions about what therapy is *actually* like? That question made its way into my inbox one day, and the answer that came through first for me was how different therapy is from talking to any of your usual people. Talking about the hard parts of life may not alleviate you from them, but it sure feels good to be seen and heard.Therapy isn’t just a place where you can talk about yourself for one hour and the other person will never turn the conversation into being about them instead. And it’s so, so much more than just talking.🌿#MillennialTherapist #TherapyQuotes📸: @diamondsedgephotography

(Duh!)Nursing couldn’t be done by a robot. Teaching can’t be done by TikTok shorts. And therapy sure as heck can’t be done by AI.🖐️

Someone asked me for my favourite breathing exerci Someone asked me for my favourite breathing exercise for reducing anxiety, and my answer was box breathing. In as little as two minutes, you can regulate your nervous system by closing your eyes and gearing down intentionally. This works whether your anxiety is low, medium or high and it’s also very effective for regulating your emotion if you feel stressed or angry.Give it a try the next time you’re feeling a little overstimulated.#BreathWork #TherapyTools #GroundingTechniques
